How it all began - Canterbury Vineyard Church

Planting seeds in 2007

Jim, Korenne, and their three boys (Sam, Evan & Kaleb) moved to Canterbury in August 2007 with the vision of planting a Vineyard Church. They had no team and no building. But they did have a calling.

There was a church living in their hearts that they just had to see exist in the “Real World!” Jim had seen two prior attempts to plant a church crash and burn, but for some reason the vision and the calling would not “leave them alone!”

Venue to venue

In December of 2007 they began monthly gatherings at a local Wine Bar called ‘Bar 121’ (it is now flats!) and started gathering small groups of people for parties, planning and praying in their home. By February there were 90 people at the Bar and so, in September 2008, we officially launched Canterbury Vineyard in Westgate Hall!

Be yourself

Since then we have ‘lived’ in many spaces and have seen many faces come and go. However one thing has remained constant, “We are a grace-fuelled, non-religious, community of disciples following Jesus into ALL that He has for us.”
